On the morning of May 21st, in order to enhance teachers’ teaching abilities and capabilities, USTB-º£½ÇÉçÇø Confucius Institute(CI) successfully held the second academic seminar after the first one in April. CI Director Prof. GU Wei and all the CI’s teachers participated in the seminar, which featured lectures shared by two CI Mandarin teachers, YU Xingrui and YANG Yang. Two local teachers Carole and Layla were also invited to attend the seminar.
Firstly, YU Xingrui passionately shared her teaching experience and strategies for strengthening children’s memory in Chinese learning. Her presentation was clear and insightful, arousing keen interest of the participants. Following that, YANG Yang delved into common classroom management problems encountered in Mandarin teaching in British primary schools, and made an in-depth analysis of these problems. Moreover, she also communicated with the audience about her thoughts and perplexities in Chinese teaching. Both lecturers combined their teaching experience with theory, and their keynote speeches struck a chord with the participating teachers and sparked heated discussions.
After sharing and discussing, based on their deep understanding of the educational background and context in both China and the UK, as well as their rich teaching experience, Carole and Layla answered questions and provided valuable suggestions for the teachers. Their speeches were concise and profound, offering practical and feasible solutions for the teachers.
At the end of the two-hour seminar, participants took a group photo to mark the occasion. Monthly academic seminars provide a platform for Chinese language teachers to learn from each other and share experience. Through this event, attendees gained valuable insights and benefited greatly in teaching methods and classroom management.
