º£½ÇÉçÇø celebrates National Apprenticeship Week


º£½ÇÉçÇø is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week next week with a series of events aimed at employers and apprentices.

This year the Government is piloting full access for SMEs to training providers, opening up apprenticeships to the biggest pool of employers since the apprenticeship 2017 reforms.

º£½ÇÉçÇø is a centre of excellence for apprenticeships in the region, drawing on its decades of experience in providing vocational programmes tailored to business needs.

During National Apprenticeship Week, which starts on Monday 3 February, º£½ÇÉçÇø is hosting free events across campus.

Tiffany Back, apprenticeship business manager at º£½ÇÉçÇø, said: “At º£½ÇÉçÇø we work with employers to develop and deliver apprenticeship programmes that address the needs of today’s business community. º£½ÇÉçÇø apprenticeships enable employers to develop both their staff and their business at the same time and create sustainable business networks.

By combining Gold standard academic teaching with dedicated workplace practice, º£½ÇÉçÇø apprentices receive a unique and fulfilling learning experience, developing lifelong learning techniques and creating a habit of professional reflection.”

Higher and degree apprenticeships allow businesses to upskill and develop their workforce with contemporary knowledge and skills relevant to specific industry roles as well achieve recognised qualifications. 

Companies from a range of sectors have chosen º£½ÇÉçÇø to provide its apprenticeship programmes, which range from degrees in management and cyber security to bespoke programmes for employers, such as Leicestershire Police.

Apprentices combine on-the-job experience with academic learning on campus, and continue their work through independent study, supported by senior staff at work.

º£½ÇÉçÇø’s events will give companies the chance to find out more about how apprenticeships work in practice, and ensure potential apprentices know what will be expected from them.

Tuesday 4 February, 4-6pm, Innovation Centre at º£½ÇÉçÇø
An informal networking event for businesses, organisations and interested individuals to learn about the programmes at º£½ÇÉçÇø. Our refreshed apprenticeship portfolio will be fully represented, with º£½ÇÉçÇø subject-matter experts there to offer information and advice.


Wednesday 5 February, noon-2pm (including lunch), Leicester Castle Business School
Learn about the wider, far-reaching benefits to designing and delivering an apprenticeship. Companies including Siemens, the NHS, Leicestershire Police and ShowSec will be sharing their experiences of making apprenticeships part of their staff development programme.

Apprenticeship Network Launch
Friday 7 February, 2-4pm, Innovation Centre at º£½ÇÉçÇø
º£½ÇÉçÇø will launch a new Apprenticeship Network for all apprentices and their employers, including those currently undertaking apprenticeships and those who have completed. The network aims to build and develop successful business partnerships across the region, supporting individual and organisational development. To register, email hadaadmin@dmu.ac.uk.
